1918 - Sidney Gerald Abel was Born on the 22nd of February in Melville, Saskatchewan, Canada. 1938 - His playing career started, playing with Detroit Red Wings.

1952-  Sidney Gerald Abel was traded from the Red Wings to the Blackhawks and served as a player-coach for the next               two seasons. 1953 - Sidney Gerald Abel played for both the Detroit Red Wings and Chicago Blackhawks,winning three Stanley Cups.

1957 - Sidney Gerald Abel returned to the Red Wings and served as Detroit's coach through the 1969-70 season. 1969 - Sidney Gerald Abel was elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame.

1970 - Sidney Gerald Abel worked as a color commentator Red Wings radio broadcasts for ten years. 1998 - Sidney Gerald Abel was ranked number 85 on "The Hockey News"  list of the 100 Greatest Hockey Players.
