1889 - Muhammad Abduh was appointed a judge in the National Courts of First Instance. 1891 - Muhammad Abduh was appointed a judge in the Court of Appeals.

1899 - Muhammad Abduh was appointed an official mufti (Islamic legal counselor), a title Muhammad Abduh held until his death.          - Muhammad Abduh taught that morality and law must be adapted to modern conditions in the interest of the common              good.
