1984 - Continued his studies and entered the Master of Science program for civil engineering. 1987 - Received his PhD in traffic and transportation engineering and planning.
2003 - Appointed as a Mayor of Tehran by the second City Council of Tehran on May 3, 2003. 2005 - Mahmoud Ahmadinejad was shortlisted in a list of 65 finalist for World Mayor.
His resignation from his post as the mayor of Tehran was accepted on June 28, 2005. Ahmadinejad became the President of Iran on August 6, 2005.
Mahmoud Ahmadinejad received his presidential authorization from the Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei on August 3, 2005.
