 1879 – Wallace Stevens was born on the 2nd day of October of this year in Reading, Pennsylvania.  1897 – Wallace Stevens attended Harvard as a special student from this year to 1900 but did not graduate.

 1903 – Wallace Stevens graduated from New York law school.  1904 – Wallace Stevens was admitted to the New York bar.

 1909 – Wallace Stevens married Elsie Kachel, a young woman from Reading. 1915 – His first work was published.

 1916 – Wallace Stevens joined the home office of the Hartford Accident and Indemnity and left New York City to live in Hartford, where Wallace Stevens would remain the rest of his life.  1923 – His first book Harmonium was published by the distinguished firm of Alfred A.
