1770 - Born in Cockermouth, Cumberland 1778 - William Wordsworth was sent to Hawkshead grammar school 1787-1791- saw again his sister Dorothy during the summer of 1787 - stayed at St. John's College, Cambridge 1791 - went to France where William Wordsworth met Annette Vallon 1793-1798- traveled to the south of England 1797 - wrote the poem "The Ruined Cottage"  1798-1799- traveled in Germany- - began writing "The Prelude" 1799 - settled at Dove Cottage, Grasmere  1800 - wrote "Michael" and the Lucy poems  1802 - "Resolution and Independence" 1804 - "Ode: Intimations if Immortality from Recollections of Early Childhood"  1888 - completed "Home at Grasmere" as the first book of the first part of the philosophical poem The Recluse  1843 - made poet laureate  1850 - died after having done much in restoring simple diction to English poetry ans establishing Romanticism as dominant in the literary world at that time.
