Biography of Robert Sir Bond:

1857 - Born on February 25th in St. John's, Newfoundland (Canada).

Canadian leader of the Liberal Party in Newfoundland and prime minister of the British colony. 1882 - Bond was elected to the Newfoundland House of Assembly.

1884-1889 - Robert Sir Bond became speaker and colonial secretary in the Liberal ministry. 1900 - As prime minister of the British colony, Bond made major concessions to outside capital to stimulate home economy.

1901 - Robert Sir Bond was knighted. 1904 - His attempts to settle the fishing rights allowed to France and the United States were overruled by the United Kingdom and, although France gave up the right to use Newfoundland shores.

1908-1909 - Robert Sir Bond resigned after disagreeing with the British governor over procedure following the deadlocked election.
