Biography of Shigeru Yoshida:

1878- Born on September 22-Japan’s most important prime minister immediately following World War II. 1906-He received a law degree from Tokyo Imperial University and later served as ambassador to Italy (1930-32) and to Britain (1936-39).

1945-Yoshida tried to negotiate a surrender with the allies but was imprisoned for two months. 1946-He served as foreign minister under two prime minister and leader of the Liberal party.

1946-He became prime minister and held the post for most of the time until 1954. -With backing of U.

S. occupation forces, Prime Minister Yoshida assumed extraordinary powers to implement the 1945-1947, 1948-1954Japanese foreign minister   1946-1947, 1948-1954 - prime minister of Japan    1947 constitution, to reorder the Japanese economy, and to make treaties with the Allied countries1967- Died on October 20.
