1972 - 1974 - Stansfield Turner served as president of Naval War College, where Stansfield Turner successfully introduced a radical improvement of that College's curriculum, introducing educational approaches based on his experience as a Rhodes Scholar at Oxford University. 1977 - 1981 - Stansfield Turner commanded the Southern region of NATO and was subsequently Director of Central Intelligence.
