1930-1932 - Balthus lived in Morocco, was drafted into the Moroccan infantry in Kenitra and Fes. 1933 - Balthus worked as a secretary, and sketched his painting La Caserne.
1933 - EStablished his first Paris studio at the Rue de Furstemberg and Cour de Rohan. 1934 - Balthus held his first exhibition in Paris.
1935 - Designed the sets and costumes for Artaud's adaptation for Percy Bysshe Shelley's The Cenci. 1937 - Married Antoinette de Watteville, who was from an old and influential aristocratic family from Bern.
1942 - Balthus moved to Bern. 1946 - Balthus returned to France.
