Biography of Asa Yoelson:

1886 - Born Asa Yoelson in Srednik, Lithuania on May 26th, the man who was later to be billed as The World’s Greatest Entertainer,  emigrated with his family to America, where the Yoelsons set up home in Washington DC at the end of the 19th century. 1906 - Married Henrietta Keller that lasted for thirteen years.

1922 - Married his second wife, Ethel Delmar, on August 18th. Their relationship lasted for four years.

1927 - Jolson starred in the first ‘talking picture’, "The Jazz Singer". 1928 - Married his third wife, Ruby Keeler, an actress and Ziegfeld girl, on September 21st.

Their relationship lasted for eleven years. 1933-1939 - Asa Yoelson starred in the movies, "Swanee River", "Hollywood Cavalcade", "Rose of Washington Square", "Wonder Bar" and "Hallelujah I'm a Bum".
