Biography of Antonio Gramsci:

1891 - Born on January 22nd in Ales, Italy, on the island of Sardinia. Founder of the Italian Communist Party and of the newspaper L'Ordine Nuovo, which led to his involvement in founding the Partito Comunista d'Italia.

1921 - Antonio Gramsci founded the communist party, the Partito Comunista d'Italia. 1922 - Antonio Gramsci was an Italian delegate to the Third Internationale which was held in Moscow.

         - Antonio Gramsci founded the party's official newspaper, L'Unità. 1926-1934 - Antonio Gramsci was imprisoned by fascist and was released due to health problems.

1937 - Died on April 27th in Rome, Italy. 1947 - Letters that Antonio Gramsci wrote while in prison were posthumously released as Lettere dal Carcere, dealing with his thoughts about the need for a working class, the problem of cultural hegemony, and intellectualism.
