Biography of Muhammad Ali Jinnah:

1876 - Born in Wazir Mansion, Karachi, Sindh on the 25th of December. 1892 - Jinnah was offered an apprenticeship at the London office of Graham's Shipping and Trading Company, a business that had extensive dealings with Jinnahbhai Poonja's firm in Karachi.

1896 - Jinnah joined the Indian National Congress, which was the largest Indian political organisation. 1905 - His reputation as a skilled lawyer prompted Indian leader Bal Gangadhar Tilak to hire him as defence counsel for his sedition trial.

1906 - Jinnah had initially avoided joining the All India Muslim League. 1910 - On the 25th of January, Jinnah became a member on the sixty-member Imperial Legislative Council.

1918 - Jinnah's problems with the Congress began with the ascent of Mohandas Gandhi. 1920 - Jinnah resigned from the Congress, warning that Gandhi's method of mass struggle would lead to divisions between Hindus and Muslims and within the two communities.
