1945 - Shirley Hardie Jackson graduated from Bennington College. 1948-1962 - Shirley Hardie Jackson was the author of the novels "The Road Through the Wall", "The Lottery", "The Hangsaman", "Life Among the Savages", "The Bird's Nest", "Witchcraft in Salem Village", "Raising Demons", "The Sundial", "The Haunting of Hill House" and "We Have Always Lived in the Castle".

1965 - Died on August 8th in North Bennington from heart failure. His remains were cremated.

1966 - Shirley Hardie Jackson received Edgar Allan Poe Award Best Short Story, for "The Possibility of Evil".
