1853 - Wrote an elaborate political work entitled The War of Ormuzd and Alzriman in the Nineteenth Century. 1855 - 1861 - Served as Representative of Maryland.
1857 - 1861 - Member of American Party. 1863 - 1865 - Member of the Unconditional Union Party.
