1881 - Born on the 9th of March in Winsford in Somerset, England. Ernest Bevin was a British labour leader, politician, and statesman best known for his time as Minister of Labour in the war-time coalition government, and as Foreign Secretary in the post-war Labour government.
1892 - At the age of eleven Ernest Bevin went to work as a labourer and as a truck driver in Bristol.
1910 - Became secretary of the Bristol branch of the Dockers' Union.
1914 - Ernest Bevin became a national organiser for the union.
1922 - Co-founder and leaders of the Transport and General Workers Union (TGWU).
